Abstract

This paper provides a systematic analysis of the Older Americans Act (OAA) from its origins in 1965 through its most recent amendments in 2000, an overview of the reauthorization proposals for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging which could result in further refinements to the OAA, and areas of improvement that will be required to meet the large demographic changes of the near future.
